John Bell has the unique experience of seeing and hearing worship in many parts of the world. We have asked him to reflect on what he has observed and compare that to what he sees in American churches including the ever changing concept of the "emerging church". Noon Lunch (included in registration) 1 p.m. Improving Congregational Song Group singing is becoming less a part of our lives, but one place it occurs regularly is in our worship services. John Bell will give us additional tools to improve the singing of the whole people of God and introduce us to some of the songs he has heard in other parts of the world. 2:30 p.m. Break 2:45 p.m.Shopping for Thrills or Yearning for Religion? We sometimes read the Church like we read the marketplace. In helping people draw closer to God do we need to find deeper and more profound ways to live, sing, pray, and worship than what seems popular at the moment? This topic is no less than a reflection on the future of the American church. |
